Trending Hair Cuts and Colors for 2023

Everything from the wolf cut to butterfly layers to matcha green color is making waves in 2023. Have you heard the terms? If not, I'll get you acclimated. The wolf cut is an edgy blend of shaggy layers fluttering over a modified mullet. Yes, you heard that right. And people are loving it.

Butterfly layers pay homage to the Jennifer Anniston hairstyle that came after the official "Rachel cut." It's a look meant for long hair reaching past the shoulders that's chalked full of bouncy layers, especially around the face. It's less "risky" feeling than the wolf cut.

And matcha green color is exactly what it sounds like. That creamy green colored hue tea lovers normally see in their morning beverage can now be seen in the hair.

But are these the only hair trends on the move for 2023? When hair trends catch and the majority of media outlets promote them, what happens to other beautiful hair concepts that aren't as popularized? Are they still on trend? The short answer is yes. Trends circulate in a way that is different now than from decades ago. We had less access to information in the past, so trends funneled down from New York to the rest of the US one magazine at a time. Now thanks to Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook, etc., we can access hundreds of hair trends running all at once. The issue may actually be there are so many, where do we even begin?

Trending Blonde, Cuts and other Colors for 2023

Colors just keep warming up as layers are getting shorter and shorter. Warm buttery and golden iridescent blonde hues are coming into the spotlight amidst the shag-mullet hairstyle nic named the wolf cut. What's nice about the warmer blond color trending is the maintenance is easier. Colors fade warmer after toners wear off for blondes. But when the original blonde hair color is warm to start with, a refresher toner may not be needed between hair color appointments. Just makes things that much easier along the way.

Maintenance for color might be easing up for blondes, but when it comes to shorter layers the maintenance gets more strategic. Time between cuts, especially for the wolf cut and the butterfly cut shortens a bit as shorter layers need more attention. This is because the shape of the cut is easily lost as the layers grow out.

Are warm blondes the only ones that are getting more popular in 2023? Honestly there are so many blonde trends and other color trends going at the same time right now. Here are a few.

-Balayage higher towards the root with contrasting lowlights

-Streaky or chunky highlights

-Darker blond or "Bronde"

-French style Balayage

- Classic blonde foiled highlights

-Chocolate brown balayage

-Copper Highlights

-Vivid Colors Galore
